Emirates Ordered 36 Airbus A380
The big order, which Airbus expected from Emirates Airlines came true. Emirates Airlines ordered 36 Airbus A380 aircraft. It was stated that 20 of the planes, which are 16 billion dollars, was the final order and 16 of them would be optional. The delivery of newly ordered aircraft will begin in 2020.
Emirates airlines, the world’s largest A380 operator, has a powerful A380 fleet of 101 aircraft. With 41 A380 orders waiting for delivery, the A380 brings its commitment to 178 aircraft valued at more than $ 60 billion.
Emirates ‘ Board of Directors and executive chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said Emirates represents the growth, resilience and innovative spirit of Dubai, adding: “The city’s increasing role in bringing the world together in terms of human, capital and flow of information. This acquisition reflects Emirates’ confidence in shaping the future and its determination to move forward toward Dubai’s vision of becoming a worldwide destination and aviation centre.”
Al-Maktoum, emphasizing that the A380 is a success story for Emirates , said: “Our passengers love it. By taking advantage of the flexibility of passenger capacity and flight distance, we use these aircraft for different flight points in our flight network. Some of the A380s we just ordered will be used to replace the planes that will retire. This will stabilise the future production of the A380. In order to provide our passengers with the best possible experience, we will continue to work hand in glove with Airbus to further improve the aircraft and the products on the plane. The beautiful side of this plane is that it provides plenty of space for us to do different things in interiors thanks to the technology and design used.”
John Leahy, who was Commercial Aircrafts Customer Operations Director of Airbus and had been in partnership with Emirates for many years, thanked Emirates for its orders and added;
“Since 2008, this aircraft has contributed greatly to Emirates’ growth and success. We are pleased that these achievements will continue. This new order emphasized Airbus’s commitment to produce the A380 for at least another decade. Personally, I am convinced that Emirates will follow this example of more orders and this wonderful plane will be produced in the 2030s.”
In a statement said by Airbus company earlier, it had been stated that the production of these A380 aircrafts would be stopped if orders were not received from Emirates.
