1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Sold For $8.8 Million

A rare 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider achieved $8.8m at RM Auctions’ Scottsdale auction, towards the top end of its $7m-9m estimate.  The auction house says it believes the tally is a Scottsdale record.

Only 50 of these fine machines were ever made. Except for the 13 years it spent in Germany with collector Jorn-Holger Richter, car has been in the US since its arrival from Italy in 1959.  The auction raked in almost $45 million and only auctioned a total of ten cars. Some of the other sold include a  1958 Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet and a 1997 McLaren F1, both of which sold for over $5 million.
