The 2014 Detroit Auto Show marks the debut of the latest variant, the new Porsche 911 Targa. The 2014 Porsche 911 Targa is ditching the sliding glass roof panel of its last iteration for a design that reaches back to the original Targa of 1965.
Despite the visual throwback, the 2014 911 Targa’s roof system is anything but old school. There’s a little difference though between this model and the original one, as the modern version’s roof segment can be opened and closed at the push of a button in just 19 seconds. The folding top is a thick B-pillar brushed aluminum and a wraparound rear glass window.
The 2014 Targa will go on sale this summer. Two models are available: the Targa 4, with a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine producing 350 hp; and the Targa 4S, with a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine producing 400 hp.
